International Learning & Information Network for Crime Prevention & Community Safety

Latest news: Crime in high-rise housing: is it the built-environment's fault? [pdf file]
Funded by the European Commission's AGIS programme

We are an informal network of crime prevention practitioners, researchers and teachers who wish to share information and learning opportunities to improve practice in preventing crime and promoting community safety in our respective countries.

The purpose of the network is to:

  1. Maintain a 'dossier' and learning materials which will compare crime prevention approaches in various European countries, and will give examples of good practice.
  2. Maintain an up-to-date contact list of practitioners, researchers and teachers who are keen to exchange information and learning about crime prevention.
  3. Endeavour to translate key pieces of information into other user languages.
  4. Meet either as a full network group or in smaller interest groups, as and when appropriate.
  5. Offer people programmes of training and education in crime prevention.

As well as carrying information and lists of contacts, this site will also provide you with direct access to other sites located elsewhere on the Web, which may be of use to people involved in crime prevention and community safety work. We would very much appreciate it if you could recommend other pages or sites that you know of, which we could add to our access list.

If you would like to know more, become involved in the network, participate in future network meetings, suggest good uses for this Internet site or send some information to be added to these Web pages, please contact: Sara Williams at the Faculty of the Built Environment, University of the West of England, Bristol, BS16 1QY, United Kingdom. Tel (0044)117 32 81377, Fax (0044)117 32 83002, or, preferably, e-mail me at Sara3.Williams@uwe.ac.uk so that I can process your communication electronically.
