1 Introduction to Hcond
Hcond has been designed to help RSLs carry out stock condition surveys and produce both short and long-term plans for the maintenance
and repair of their housing stock. The programme is easy to learn
and operate; anyone who understands the Windows environment should be up and running in a couple of hours. Unlike some databases the
information is easy to manipulate and/or modify. The data output
prints straight to a printer or can be 'dumped' to word processing or
spreadsheet packages. The package can easily be customised to
suit the specific needs of the user. In designing the software our over-riding principle was to keep the programme as simple as
possible while, at the same time, providing a useful, comprehensive
tool for handling condition survey data.
Hcond allows an association to:
- make long term forecasts of its elemental future repair
and renewals
- establish and implement short and medium planned programmes
of repair
- identify properties with specific attributes
- provides data to enable associations to establish trends
over time
- produce quick and comprehensive reports on its stock -
and view pictures, scans etc.
- monitor its dwellings with regard to the requirements of the Decent
Homes Standard
- establish which houses are non decent
- establish why they are non-decent
- record the costs of making them decent.
