The Lydiard Project aims to restore the 18th Century landscape of Lydiard Park but in order to do so it is important to understand and respect all the earlier and more recent phases of the parks evolution.

English Heritage have discovered evidence ranging from agricultural use during the Medieval period, 17th Century formal gardens, and installations associated with the World War 2 military camp which became a temporary housing estate in the 1950's.
